Time Flies... and So Does This Kid!

Can't keep up with my kid, my job, my callings, my husband, my dogs, or my house work so I really have no shot of keeping up with my blog.  Here are a few randomly selected delights from the last few months.

Grandma Nancy (Nanny) had a big birthday in May and big surprise by the whole fam.  Jack spent the party trying to eat his foot.

We raced!  Jack joined us at the end but we will give him credit.  Here he is with his gorgeous auntie Shelby.

 Baby in a basket!
This kid loves his yard!

Jackson is a water baby.  Show him a pool or a faucet or a fountain and he is a happy camper.  Here was a little family trip to the new City Creek Mall with its cool jelly fish fountain.

Our three puppies.  Jack LOVES these guys and they are fairly terrified/fascinated by him.
He is so big he can sit in the front of the grocery cart!  I am really sad that I can't haul him around in his car seat anymore but he is WAY to heavy.
Jack loves Kaylee's bird toy.  Here he tries to smuggle it home in his mouth.
 Loves his baby Mums.
Not only is he crawling all over the place and standing on his own for a few seconds at a time, he can also climb the stairs and loves to chase down his puppies that way.  Here he is 9 months old but he is wearing his 18-24 month pajamas!  When we got them at one of my showers I could not imagine them ever fitting.

He is growing way too fast and we are trying to soak up every minute of it.  This means that I have become a bit of a flake - I rarely answer my phone and given the choice between hanging with my kid and anything else... well, don't be offended if I blow you off to get a little more Jackson Time.  Can you blame me?  This boy is pure sunshine and joy and we love him to pieces.

 Pretty sisters
See! There are some tulips in the background.  It was so so pretty.
Jackson loves water!  Can't wait till it's warm enough to go to the pool.

6 Month Photos!!!

I'm so far behind but I just had to share these pictures.  They are from Easter and Jackson's half birthday.  He is perfect and beautiful and so much fun!  In fact, we are having so much fun with him that stuff like blogging and doing the dishes and keeping up with old friends goes out the window.  Much love to everyone.  Stop by any time and meet this kid.  He will steal your heart!

Beautiful Baby Boy Pics!

Happy New Year!  We are so excited to start the new year with our sweet baby Jackson.  It's 11 weeks later and I still cannot believe that this beautiful baby boy is mine!  I get to love him and smooch him every day.  These pictures were taken when he was about 10 days old by the lovely and talented Molly Poore of Molly Poore Photography.  Jackson just gets bigger and more fun every day.  He is now even more chubby and delicious than he is in these pics.  At his 2 month check up he was 12 lbs. 13 oz. and 24 inches long!  More to come soon!

He's Here!

On Thursday, October 13th, exactly 6 days late, our amazing bundle of love and sunshine arrived.  After a quick and fairly textbook delivery, we were blessed with Nathaniel Jackson Sechrest.  He weighed 6 lbs 13 oz, and was 19 inches long.  He was a superstar from the very beginning with 9's on his apgar scores and a healthy cry and great color right from the get-go.  He is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen with his big eyes and perfect face.  I know that every mom says this, but I have a host of doctors, nurses, and visitors who can back me up; plus, photo evidence.  He is now 11 days old and is a total champ.  He eats, sleeps, poops, pees, and burps like it's his job, and right now it is.  I'm sure when he gets older he will be rolling his eyes and saying "oh mom" all the time because I just can't stop looking at him and singing to him and kissing his adorable little face and hands and toes.  It was absolutely love at first sight for both me and Nate.  Prepare yourselves for our world now to revolve around Jackson.  And just look at the kid... tell me you could resist...

The Waiting Game

I am 38 weeks along with this little boy.  At 36 weeks, our doctor told us that we would be having a September baby and that we probably wouldn't make it another week without having the baby.  Well, we (of course) had a moment of panic and flew into frantic preparations and busted out the nursury and threw a baby-q for our family and friends and cleaned our house top to bottom.  Now what?  We sit and stare and relax... and it's wonderful.  Everyone keeps telling us that we should be freaking out and walking a lot and eating spicy food and trying to get this baby here.  But frankly, I'm loving these few days of peace.  Our bags are packed and we are ready for our baby to be here, but I'm really not in any hurry.  Nate says we're in a "holding pattern" and I think it's a nice way to live for now.  I'm sure there are lots of terribly useful things we could be doing while we wait, but for now, we are catching up on old movies, taking our dogs to the dog park, and sitting on our back porch watching the sun set... basically steeling ourselves for the moment when our lives are turned comepletely inside out and upside down (in the most delightful way) by a screaming, pooping, barfing bundle of love and sunshine.  Any day now....

And now for your viewing pleasure:
